One of our students on the A* GCSE Maths Program is a wannabe brain surgeon.
His mother took me to the side and said to me, “Help him find another job, one that maybe he can achieve.”
We certainly have a section where we encourage other job options (plan A, B and C) but the end goal is to find that job that makes them super happy and fulfilled.
But we never discourage anything, no matter how big. Or small.
A few years back I had a student who wanted to be an astronaut. I told him as long as your mum can afford the funding (about 200K last time I heard) you just get cracking with the studies.
I think he is trying to fund it himself as he has a bank job. The other week I sent him a link to apply to be a space astronaut.
Moral of the story 1: The sky’s the limit and nothing is impossible.
Moral of the story 2: But for this guy, outer space is the limit and it’s still possible.
Who do you know, who wants an A* in GCSE maths? Pass this on, you could be someone’s saving grace 🙏.
