Its in the process, math tutor online

Its in the process says math tutor online

For years, approximately 20 years now, I kept my MSc maths certificate behind a door. Where no one could see it.

When we were renovating the house, the builders were like, “Why is this behind the door, and not over the mantlepiece?”

Also, after I graduated I did not attend the ceremony in the cathedral. Yes yes, I passed for God sake. I just didn’t go to graduation.

I mean, wasn’t it enough that I had to sit through class for 3 years, slogging and slogging through maths sums day in day out?

I felt the whole graduation thing was superficial and pretentious. And yes I was right.

After 7 years, I passed the MSc my mother said, “I will never speak to you ever again if you don’t attend the ceremony.”

 I attended for my mum.

It was probably the proudest day of her life. But it was the most FAKEST day of my life.

Really it’s not about the cap and gown and shaking the principles hand, turn smile click, then Walking off with my certificate.

Then what is it all about, I hear you all screaming?

Well, isn’t it about the learning? The experience? The time spent? The friends made? The connections had? The lecturers? The laughs? The jokes? The assignments? The stress? The deadlines? The running to hand it in? The halls? The classes?

We are deluded in this spoilt, little rich world of ours. Thinking that we will be happy after we have the big house, the car, the shoes, the bag, the latest phone, THE GRADUATION, THE CEREMONY, THE CERTIFICATE.

Its really not about the end goal, but the process. Happiness comes IN DOING the thing and not really in GETTING THE FINAL THING.

Ever noticed when you buy a new thing, your always on the look out for another new thing?

The novelty soon wears out after you have got it.

We have a mixture of kids on the A* program. From year 6 to 11. From bottom set to gifted and talented. What do they all have in common…

They are in the same process. Hopefully a happy process. The A* process.

Moral of the story 1: This is a snap shot of one piece of mindset work IN OUR PROGRAM.

Moral of the story 2: It’s in the process, happiness is in the process.

Moral of the story 3: It’s still behind the door!

Who do you know, who wants an A* in GCSE maths? Pass this on, you could be someone’s saving grace 🙏.

Why every single child needs extra maths tuition!

Why every single child needs extra maths tuition!

My son is in one of the top performing schools in England. Certainly number 1 for Lancashire, just look it up if you really want to know. There are only 40 places each year.

He took an entrance exam in maths and English. I knew he would pass, because I moved for that particular school. So we worked for it.

He sits in one of my maths online classes. The foundation class. We cover basic algebra, fractions, percentages, decimals etc.

He is super fine with fractions, percentages and decimals. Because we worked our butt off for it remember!

But for some reason algebra seems to be another language. Foreign.

Now remember the point I tried to make at the beginning…he’s a clever shit and still, in year 7, new school, top school, clever lad, algebra was hard. Even lesson after lesson with us.

8 months into year 7, 8 months of extra tuition, 8 months of like terms, substitution, expanding brackets, factorising, making x the subject of the formula….and so on..the Penny has finally dropped!

It took 8 months (minus the school holidays) of theses topics week after week.

So is it any surprising that your kid in year 8, 9 or 10 just doesn’t get it? This is not your kids school by the way, that only does one lesson of each topic an academic year.

This is every single kid in the country does 1 (maybe 2) lesson on like terms in year 7. Then they will see it again In year 8…but just the once.

Then they do 1 lesson on substitution (maybe 2 if they are lucky), the next time they see it is in year 8.

And the same for expanding brackets, and factorising and… get my drift!

By the time they get to year 10, 11, they work their butt off …exam time!

You know I’m not telling you anything new, because you all went to school. You know this is fact!

Moral of the story 1: This is exactly how we get an A*. We start off early.

Moral of the story 2: It’s not schools fault. They have a curriculum to cover and they never get a chance to finnish it.

Moral of the story 3: If you want to point the finger, Probably is schools fault!

Who do you know, who wants an A* in GCSE maths? Pass this on, you could be someone’s saving grace 🙏.

Cash Back Only for My Online Maths Students, Afrikana Dalston London

My students are the most pampered ever, with cash back incentives! AND whoever heard of a tutor pampering their students! There is always a first.

At the end of a hard, gruelling year of A* GCSE maths, some attending 3, 4 even 5 lessons a week. At the end of the year, we treated them to a restaurant meal, Afrikana Dalston in London.

And to anyone who couldn’t make it, £50 cash back to a restaurant of their choice.

Its a new place opened up in town, (Dalston, London), nicely decorated with hip, lively music. The staff were cool and helpful. But most importantly, the food was something out of this world.

An experience from Africa, I would definitely recommend this place for a day out with the kids or your loved ones. For me, a day out with my students, a well deserved treat!

Well done to my students! I am super happy and proud of you all. For working hard and being diligent in coming online week after week.

It Looks and Feels Better Than it Tastes, Maths Online Tutor Drinks Concoction of…

Maths Online Tutor drinks a concoction of raw ginger, spinach, lemon, mint, lettuce, celery, cucumber, carrot and lots of squash.

It looks better than it tastes, AND it feels better than it tastes too. It just tastes…

As my doctor slowly eases me of predisolone after 3 long years of pain, I look for alternatives. Some legal, some illegal.

This drink is legal, but tastes illegal! It’s that bad. I thought I would dress it up with strawberries 🍓 but honestly who am I kidding?

Tastes like medicine! But Feels so good after.

But I’m also kidding myself if I don’t realise that deep down at a molecular cell level, something amazing, extraordinary is happening.

Even though I wake up in pain, and it does nothing for my bone disease, my iron levels are up, my mood is up, my bulge has gone, energy up, and lots more positivity enough to make you sick of me.

I tell all my studentss on the A* GCSE maths program,  “Don’t tell anyone you get extra tuition, not your teachers, your friends, your family, nada!”

Why? It’s so good, it’s so amazing, they see it…and it makes them sick of you with jealousy!

They will notice a confidence sprouted from nowhere. They will notice you are helping then in class. They will notice your homework is top’s.  They will notice your grades are better. They will notice you move up sets. They will notice that other people are noticing.

Moral of the story 1: The teaching is better than the platform (I write on a school white board, school style platform)

Moral of the story 2: The feeling your child will feel after is better than the platform too.

Moral of the story 3: Its not the platform that counts, its what you feel and gain afterwards that matters.

Its how you feel that matters!

Who do you know, who wants an A* in GCSE maths? Pass this on, you could be someone’s saving grace 🙏.
