I love a good rant, Maths Online Tutor, mindset

I love a good rant. 🗣

Especially when its about the colour of my skin or the way I dress. AND especially when I know with out a shadow of a doubt that I am RIGHT! ✅

So, I went to Blackburn hospital the other day to get bloods 💉 done and the security guard 👮‍♂️ stopped me in my tracks and said, “Put a face mask on!”

I grabbed one off his table and proceeded to put it on under the mask I ALREADY HAD ON. My niqab. Lololol 🤣🤣🤣.

Face mask on top of face mask

But then he stopped me again, “What have you come here for?”🤔

Now, can you imagine if it was my private parts or something I would be shy to mention. 😬. Thank god it was only bloods because I’m a rubbish liar.

Normally, I would have walked off mumbling friggin dickedd, but I thought to myself…

What a lovely security guard. 😃

Giving added protection to the world and making sure I hadn’t mixed up the shopping centre with the hospital!😆

I have been known in the past to cause a ruckus over nothing. But this time, not only did I comply with the guard, but I thought wonderful thoughts of him.🤩

This is something all my children 👨‍👦‍👦 on The A* GCSE maths program™ will understand what happened to me in the hospital.

Because this is also something I teach them. MINDSET. (Funnily its something the parents are enjoying more than the kids themselves.)

Hopefully, not only will they do really well in their exams, they will do really well in their life moving forward. And thats all we hope for in the end, for every single child.

🔴 Moral of the story 1 – Security guard was a bit weird but I learnt not to make a fuss. AND yes I leant it, over months and years of…sorry but its in the program.

🔴 Moral of the story 2 – Don’t judge a book by its cover. I may be dressed like someone out of the Sahara desert. But I speak better English than most English people.

🔴 PS – I don’t wear niqab to teach my children. I’m not that religious!

Mind your mask set, mask your mindset

There ‘IS’ an exam, GCSE maths online tuition

Stop ✋ telling GCSE and A’Level kids, “There are no exams.”

➡️ Because….

➡️ there will be an exam…

➡️ a teacher based exam….

➡️ where they will set an assessment of some sort….

➡️ then give a grade based on it…..

➡️ that IS the grade you will end up with.

There is an exam, GCSE maths online tuition

How fair the system is 🤷‍♀️, is not our problem. Its just a problem telling kids…”There is no exam.”

THERE IS SOME SORT OF ASSESSMENT THAT WILL TAKE PLACE. 👌

Whether it be a mock exam, homework assessment,  essays, assignments. Call it whatever you like…it will take place ✅.

And deluding kids will only make them more confused than ever.

Kids have got to double down more than ever, now that they have no idea what assessment questions to expect from a teacher.👩‍🎓

Before it was predictable, the exam board. Now, you can’t predict your teacher.

Every single teacher in the country is going to assess in their own way. Some easy, some hard, some happy 😄, some mean 😠, some forgiving 😇.

Get over it, let’s deal with it.

My online students are smashing it right now 🤸‍♀️! And so did my daughter in 2020 when she got an A* in GCSE Math’s!

Yes, “There is no examining board exam.” But there will be an assessment of some sort, call it what you will…that is the exam. 😉

Exams exams exams! GCSE maths online tuition

She got A* in Maths GCSE in 2020 Lock-down, Maths Online Tuition

She got an A* all while being a carer 🫂 and looking after a new born, in 2020…in Lock-down.

Who? My daughter!

 How? Read on…

A* MATHS GRADE IN LOCK-DOWN 2020!!

Some of us are panicking right now. 😢. Lock-down again! No exams for GCSEer’s and A’Leveler’s. But rest assured. We have been through it once, we will get through it again. 🤗

Don’t worry, stay calm

2018, I had a baby, caught MRSA from the hospital, thought I was going to die, 2 weeks later developed arthritis from my jaw to my little toe. Who looked after me and a new born? My other little girl, she was in year 9.

Did she get extra tuition because her mums a tutor? Not really. Once a week maybe, if that.

How did she get an A* in 2020 lockdown?🤔

To start with, that one a week tuition she got:

🔴 Ahead of her class.

🔴 Did 1 exam paper a week.

🔴 Showed her teachers enthusiasm.

🔴 Did all the assessments to perfection.

🤩 She was confident and happy.

🤩 Exubed positivity.

🤩 Whatever her grade she knew she did everything before, during and after.

🤩 There was nothing more she could do and nothing less.

My online students have got a head start this year. They get 4 lessons a week of tuition. More than what I normally recommend.

They know what to expect in this lockdown. Extra exam practise, extra supplementary work, extra mindset work to make things happen.

➡️ Your teacher will notice a shift in energy and enthusiasm.

➡️ Your teachers assessments will also improve as a result…

➡️ Your teachers expected grade will go up for you.

➡️ There are more than no excuses this time.

Don’t worry (I know, I know, its easier said than done), but we have been there once before, we will do it again. 😄

She got an A* in 2020 Lock-down

Who do you know who wants an A* in GCSE Math’s, pass this on, you could be someone’s saving grace.

  • OK, I’m ready to do this, but I have a couple of additional questions. Can I call you?

  • How long have you been doing what you do and how did you get to be an A* GCSE Maths Expert?

I have been tutoring all levels of Maths, English, Science and Arabic for over 20 years, but the defining moment in my life happened when I picked up my MSC Maths certificate.

I was tutored in all subjects my entire childhood life, from 5 years old to A Levels. But, I really struggled with maths, I was in the bottom set in year 7. I had tutor after tutor. Eventually my mother found a really good maths tutor who gelled with us.

I had him for 3 years for my GCSE exams. Although I moved from bottom set to top set, I didn’t achieve an A grade, let alone an A*. I always wondered why didn’t my maths tutor push me to get an A.

I know that I am more than capable as now I have an MSC in mathematics. This was the defining moment in my life.

At that moment, I made a commitment to do everything to help children reach the highest possible grade within them, that being a pass grade or even an A* in most kids.

I immersed myself in learning what to do in helping children to get the best possible grades, and dedicated the rest of my professional life in this area.

  •  Who are your clients exactly? What age group do you teach?

I work with all types of parents of children, but usually mothers who have a professional job or mothers who can actually do the maths themselves.

Many of my parents are doctors or in the medical field. I have also worked with parents who have no qualifications, but usually these parents have a business.

The children I teach vary in ability, from bottom set struggling kids to top set and even gifted and talented kids.

The ages also range from primary school to adults (Adults also need tuition). The earlier a child starts with tuition the quicker and better the results are.

  •  What happens if you haven’t yet worked with people in my field?

I have worked with all sorts of types of people, but this is just the general type of parents who are attracted to the program.

We welcome anybody who is outside of this general type of person. Basically, anybody who is looking to improve their child’s maths grade, improve maths confidence, or even want to move up sets, that is who we work with.

How are you different from other “Maths Tutors”?

I totally understand it when a child just does not get it. I have been there. I can explain the most difficult topic to anyone in bottom set and they won’t even realise its top set work.

Infact, we only teach the hard topics. We leave the easy topics for school to teach.

We set one exam paper every week. We also set supplementary homework. Answers are also included.

We help with how to revise and exam techniques. And setup weekly step by step mindmapping of the whole GCSE Curriculum onto a piece of A4 paper.

We have an accountability session, where children do an exam paper in my presence. I will ask for them to complete it in their own time, mark it and send me the results.

We do snippets of work on mindset on wealth and success in life too.

What type of personality do you work best with and what is expected of me?

We work best with parents who want their children to do well in school. If you are excited to see your child move up sets, improve their confidence, getting a pass mark or even an A*, then this is for you.

We work with children who are struggling in school and want to do well. Equally, we work with children who are doing well in school and would like to bump up their grade to a higher level.

For what type of professional is this program NOT going to work?

This program is not for anybody who is not prepared to remind their kids to attend the session or to do their homework. Reminding children to do work is part and parcel of parenthood.

It’s also not going to work for whiners and complainers. Its not going to work for parents who do not wish their child to do well in school. Its also not going to work for any child that is forced to come in this program.

What exactly is The A* GCSE Maths Program™ and what does it include?

This is a 9 month program (Sept till July), for 36 weeks. There are 4 sessions per week, 1 session is the paid session and the other 3 sessions are optional. Sessions are on zoom.

This program is for anybody in high school year 7 to 11, from bottom set doing the foundation paper to higher set children aiming for an A*. We have also had children in years 5 and 6.

There are four sessions per week.

Session 1 – Wednesday 8.00pm-8.40pm : Beginners

Session 2 – Saturday 3.00pm -3.40pm : Intermediate

Session 3 – Saturday 4.00pm – 4.40pm : Advanced

Session 4 – Thursday 8.00pm-8.40pm : A* Exam Papers

Session 5 – Wednesday 9.40pm-9.40pm : Accountability Session

It is advisable that children in lower sets sit in beginner’s and intermediate session. Then slowly easing them into the advanced session. Children in higher sets are advised to sit in intermediate, advanced and the A* exam papers session.

A child can sit in all 4 sessions. Year 10 and 11 students generally sit in all 4 sessions. Its a time of stress and anxiety and they don’t want to miss anything.

Anybody can join at any point during the year and pick up the sessions easily. Lesson’s are recapped and reminders are set. The same topics are covered over and over again.

Questions are set through out the session. And children are assessed over and over to reinforce the theories and methods. Children are reminded weekly to fill in the math’s mindmap of the syllabus. I request for pictures of the mindmaps to be sent to me for checking.

The fifth session is an accountability session, where children sit and do an exam paper whilst I am present. This happens after the 18th week of the progam/Half way mark. This session is extremely helpful as parents struggle to get children to do the exam papers. I will them ask for pictures of random questions to send to me for checking.

We give holidays at the same time as school holidays.

Does this really work?

Yes. But It really depends on what you want too. If you attend every session, take part in the sessions and answer questions, do the homework and exam papers, we do guarantee that children will do well.

Their confidence will go up and ultimately they will improve their grade. We have had children in bottom set moved up to top set. We have had children go from a grade D to an A*.

What results can I expect?

You can guarantee that your child’s confidence will go up. Their teacher will notice an improvement after only 3 weeks with us. Your child will also notice they have improved. They will also be happy.

Your child’s result will depend on how much work they put into the program. If they attend as many sessions, if they do every bit of homework and every exam paper, you can guarantee their grade will go up.

If they are in lower sets, you can expect them to be moved up (applicable to years 7 to 10 only).

Even if your child doesn’t do the homeworks, their performance will still improve just by sitting in the sessions and listening.

Can I contact some of your former clients to see what it’s like to work with you?

Definitely.  We have many testimonials of past students on our website.

How quickly can I expect results?

You will notice results within 3 weeks. Your child’s school teacher will notice a difference and mention something to your child after 3 weeks too. Your child will notice an improvement straight after the first lesson. The only way to find out, is to try it out.

How can I guarantee myself that my child will achieve results, in record time?

We guarantee results. Whether it be better grades or moving up sets. We guarantee that your child’s confidence will go up. You will notice your child will be happy straight after the first session. Everybody will notice a difference, including the school teacher.

The only way is to try it out. Maybe try 1 session to test it out.

Will I recover the investment I put into this program?

Yes. You really have to try it, to believe it.

Your child’s confidence will shift after the first lesson. If your child does well in maths, the consensus is he/she is a good problem solver. Or he/she is clever.

As a result they will get compliments, they will feel confident, they will go out into the world already feeling successfull, they will get better jobs.

The first thing an employer looks at is the Math’s and English grade. Even if they achieve an average grade, they will exube an attitude like no other.

If your child moves into life, confident and happy what more could be more investing than this?

How will we work together and what does the program entail?

After all the initial registration process by email, we will send a zoom link. We will advise you on which days and times to sit in. After payment, you will connect on the day/time and your child can write notes of the lesson I teach. Homework and answers will be sent within 2 working days after the session.

How long is the program?

36 days, one lesson a week (sometimes you may sit 2, 3 or 4 lesson a week, at the discretion of the tutor). So that’s 36 weeks from September till July.

You can join the program at any point. You can also leave at any point, there is no obligation to stay.

Do people ever re-up?

Yes. When children come to us at an earlier age in primary school, they stay with us right through to their GCSE exams. They get good results right from the outset, that’s why they reinvest every year.

How many are in the program?

It doesn’t matter how many are in the program because all children’s cameras are off and mic is off. There is no distraction like there is in a class room.

Teenagers actually feel relieved that they don’t have to speak or show their faces in lessons.

Can I have multiple devices for the more children I have?

No, only for the simple reason that it is unfair. We have a zoom admin that only allows children into the room who have paid. Its 1 device per payment.

It would also be impossible to keep up with someone that has say paid for only 1 child but allows 30 children in.

You can have as many children as you like sitting at one device. So, You are only paying for 1 child but can potentially have 2, 3 or more sitting in for free.

Infact we encourage you to sit all the siblings or friends in all of the sessions, under the condition of 1 device.

Can children ask questions?

Yes, we encourage children to ask questions. If one child is stuck on a question, it usually means that the rest of the class is also stuck. Children don’t usually ask questions because concepts are explained really well.

Children can ask about their school topics, but usually after a few weeks, they realise that their school work is easy. And they don’t need extra help with school work.

How do you accept payment?

We accept payment by bank transfer, 2 working days before your session. Most people choose the 4 weekly payment as it is slightly cheaper than the weekly option.

Do you do 1 to 1?

Yes. Spaces for 1 to 1 are limited and are always fully booked back to back, year after year. Whilst you wait on the waiting list for a 1 to 1 session you might as well try The A* GCSE Maths Program™.

How long is a session?

Every session is 40 mins. Hour long maths sessions drag on and we lose the attention of most children. 40 min lessons are fast paced and children are kept on their toes at all times.

How much is a session?

We do not mention it here as the prices change. We will discuss this in the call.

How do we get started?

After you have booked an appointment www.calendly.com/rakiyarahman

We will ring you to get acquainted. Then we will send you a registration form. After we have received this back we will send payment information, safeguarding and zoom information.

We allow children into the zoom room when payment has been received at least 2 working days before the session. You can keep the payment running on as a standing order and we will remind you which lessons they are being paid for by an email.

If I’m not sure I’m ready to get started, how can I sample your work at low cost to see if it’s the right solution for me?

The only way to find out is to try out a session. We offer weekly sessions at a low cost. Obviously, there is no compulsion to carry on. You can also view snippets of topics on our social media, along with exam questions and problem solving.

I have a family and a busy life. Although I want my child to get an A*, I don’t have much time to spare. How much time do I need?

You do not need to do anything. As long as you remind your child to log in at the correct time, they will be able to watch the lesson and make their own notes. We send reminders on WhatsApp the day of the lesson, just to remind YOU.

You only need to remind your child to do the homework. We do not ask to see the homework as we have already sent the answers.

Sometimes we request to see snippets of homework. These are topics that are difficult or fiddly.

OK, I’m ready to do this, but I have a couple of additional questions. Can I call you?

Yes, you can book an appointment here www.calendly.com/rakiyarahman

And one of our team advisors or myself will call you.

Year 6 kid does Trigonometry year 11 work!

Last Saturday, this year 6 kid ran home to his mum, “I did trionotry, I did trionotry!”

His mum, “Wow, you did Trigonometry.”

He is not gifted/talented. He is just on target for his age group.

So if kids can do the usual arithmetic stuff, do I keep doing more and more add and takeaway stuff?

Or do I move them on to bigger and better things?

What would you do?
